He passed M.B.,B.S. from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore in 1987 -88 and then passed M.D. in General Medicine from Karnatak Medical College, Hubli in 1992, with commendable academic record securing distinction.
He has been actively associated with the efforts to control malaria in the city of Mangalore and currently, he is a co-investigator in the project titled Malaria Research Training in South India being conducted by the Kuvempu University Consortium, Shimoga, Karnataka, in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, USA, and funded by the Fogarty International Center, National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. His book, Malaria: Modern Day Management has been published by Macmillan Medical Communications in May 2012. His book, Flu Endu HedaruvirEke, (Why fear the Flu) in Kannada, has been printed twice in two years and has been awarded the Dr. Chandrappa Gowda Prize for Best Medical Literature 2010 by the Karnataka Sangha, Shivamogga. Collection of his fortnightly columns in Kananda dailies, Vijaya Karnataka and Kananda Prabha, titled Arogya Ashaya, has been published in 2016 and has been awarded the Best Medical Writer Award by the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy and the Bisaleri Jayanna and Bisaleri Brothers Endowment Award for Best Medical Literature by Kananda Sahitya Parishat.

She passed Diploma in Dermatology and Venereology (D.V.D.) with distinction from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore in 1996, followed by D.N.B. in Dermatolgy from P.S.G. Institute of Medical Science and Research, Coimbatore in 2000. Institute of Medical Science and Research, Coimbatore. She routinely performs chemical peeling, collagen induction therapy using dermaroller, laser hair removal and dermatosurgical procedures, including skin grafting for vitiligo.
She is a member of Association of Cutaneous surgeons of India (ACSI), Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (IADVL) and Cosmetology Society of India (CSI).
